Good to hear a live broadcast from a regular cathedral choir. Splendid repertoire too. A mixed top line I'd guess. ATB seemed very well balanced and blended. Trebles doing extremely well, with a very direct tone. I don't know much about sound engineering, but wonder if a slightly more distant miking position would have given us a better impression of 'being there'? I thought the final hymn was cracking along at such a pace because time was running out...but no; the broadcast, including voluntary, ended well within its allotted span.

Wonderful attack from the whole choir with special mention for the superb enthusiasm and sense of purposeful communication from the top line. I found the whole experience full of devotion and joy. Thrilling low reeds in the anthem beautifully caught by the engineering; great stuff and a load of fun! Terrific organ playing and the sound superbly caught.
Mr A, as Durham is ‘a regular’ choir, which UK cathedral choirs are ‘irregular’ and therefore by implication second rate? I’m intrigued.

jonfan, What I meant by ' a regular choir' I meant exactly that, and certainly no disrespect; but a choir from one of our many country-wide cathedrals doing its regular thing, live. Other CEs are fine, eg Oxbridge choirs, the BBCS, but I hope you get my drift.
