Out of arbitrary curiosity, I've committed myself to come to know these 10 string quartets, commissioned and issued by the Naxos label. The shortest of them are around 15 and 20 minutes long, the longest almost 55 minutes. To come to know a long set of contemporary quartets in a modern style by a composer whose music I don't know feels like a challenge in the order of committing to knit a patterned sweater that I'm then going to wear in public.
I know this must be possible but I haven't the least idea how.
