Larcher violin concerto

Larcher: Violin concerto (2008/’09) [British Premiere]

Am I the only one who thinks that this concerto IMO lacks harmonic as well as rhythmic tension, and sounds like a 1960s Penderecki piece after André Rieu has chipped off the biting bits?

I was only half listening, and the impression I got was of the early part was pastiche Pärt.

There's a fair bit of Pärt and Glass which strikes me as pastiche Pärt and Glass.
