Really pleased to see Stan's 1976 album On Loan With Gratitude re-released - in the CD form with double the number of tracks. A timely reminder that outstanding forward-thinking straight ahead jazz by any comparisons continued to flow from British practitioners in the Fusion-dominated era, not that much of it made it to vinyl - in this instance we had Graham Collier to thank for instigating the Mosaic label. When I bought the LP back in 1979 it meant a return to jazz following six years of exclusive commitment to political activism, and I couldn't stop playing it for a month; it still sounds as urgent and as good to this day.
