beware has played with W Marsalis and is serious about the tradition!
According to the best estimates of astronomers there are at least one hundred billion galaxies in the observable universe.

Been listening to quite a bit of "Traditionalist" jazz musicians of late.

I very much liked the Youtube clip. There are plenty of young players out there who are conversant in the piano styles of the 1920's and I have seen the singer Peter Cincotti do something similar with "Handful of keys." I am a bit of a sucker for stride piano and very much like this approach although I think someone like Jason Moran typifies what I like best as he mixes it up with more contemporarry styles.

Interested to see the name of Loren Schoenberg mentioned in the website. Wondered if you had read the interview with him on All about Jazz this week? My Dad is a fan of this saxophonist whose band Benny Goodman appropriated during the 1980's and who also worked with the big bands of Buck Clayton and Benny Carter too.

This week i have been checking out another jazz musician who has managed to explore earlier styles of jazz but in a thoroughly contemporary style is clarinetist Anat Cohen. The clips on Amazon sound very good and I have bought a CD ("Note from the village" as a Christmas present for my father. She has been around for about 10 years but I cannot recall any of her work ever being mention on the old website. If you catch her clips, she manages to play with considerable heat and has a great sound on her instrument. I will let you know my thought when I hear it over the holidays. The clips of the her big band album "Noir" also sound really tasty
