    David Angel RIP

Very sad to hear the news today of the sudden passing of the violinist David Angel, co-founder of he magnificent Maggini Quartet.

I have several of their recordings and their playing, always most exemplary.

Oh that’s such sad news - our beloved Magginis.

And David Angel couldn’t have been very old.

RIP and thank you for all those wonderful recordings.

    He’ll be greatly missed.

      A short piece here.

What wonderful service to the music world he and the quartet have given. He has left a fabulous legacy.

      Very sad news.

              Very sad news indeed
One of the great chamber musicians I have had the pleasure to work with

......and not at all phased by having to play one note over and over again with slightly different articulations before picking up a pair of oyster shells and rubbing them together

                Sorry to hear of this...

I'd recommend the Maggini's recordings of Britten's quartets...and no doubt there are other riches for us to remember David Angel by.

I haven't watched this yet and it's not my usual musical world
BUT some of you quartet enthusiasts might like it and those of us who worked with him will remember his wonderful energy and enthusiasm for all sorts of music
                  David is much missed

Isn't one of the sad things about classical music the way that performers take so long to learn the basics and build a reputation that we're so often seeing deaths of what we thought were bright young things.

I've still been thinking of the Magginis as 'young, brilliant up-and-comers', but Angel was the same age as me

On the other hand, we do have some basis for expecting favourite artists to go on performing till they're 80+, but seems it's not totally reliable
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!
