    Yes, I heard that, too. Indeed, I've thought for some time that one thing that the world desperately needs is bridge lessons; one no trump must surely be a good idea...

      Some years ago, I came across the expression "arsy-varsy", in a book about abandoned Essex dialect, for back-to-front. I have used it since then, and I think it should be re-introduced into everyday conversation and writing.

        Samuel Beckett's radio play All That Fall contains the line “Dante’s damned, with their faces arsy-versy”.
