These stories are reminding me of my favourite Classic FM quote from, I think, Henry Kelly, back in the early days of the station:

Hadn't heard that gaffe before but it rather reminds me of another old one from the same source who, having announced that they'd just played Dvořák's something-or-other (I can't now recall what), added "doesn't say who wrote it, though"...
