That sounds promising... I've been toying with Koussevitsky but then realised it was Suite for Wind not Symphony... Saturday morning brain

What quiz connection you got in mind, ams?

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Erm yer Kurt Weill was a man for your wind suites, innit and as for trannies ... well are we talking transvestites, transgenders or ... transistors?

        Or transgressions?

            Include me in that 'we'...

Presumably we are talking about a TV quiz like 'Mastermind'... 'Weakest Link'... 'Who wants to be a millionaire?' Is it a UK show? Or on the radio?

Also been exploring the background to wind suites by Holst... Vaughan Williams... Richard Strauss... JAnacek's 'Mladi'...

            Struggling for a K !

            Good puzzle, northender!!

Looking for Kurt Weill and transvestites I've been sidetracked by this fascinating website about the gay and lesbian entertainment scene in the Weimar era. I've dismally failed to connect a Kurt with a quiz show. (Perhaps Northender's gone to lunch? Just had a thought, as he's new to the MB he may not realise that pages are not automatically refreshed)

Kurt is not the answer, but he was responsible for the first composition of the three.
The youtube clip is spot on!

                    Jawohl!
The second element was composed by another of Brecht's friends and collaborators.
(NB: Some of us listen to the occasional radio quiz. )

I thought I should share the first result of my renewed searching, re: 'Kleine' and 'quiz'....

A clue for the remaining element:
Lyrics by Brecht, music by Eisler, recorded by (amongst others) Fischer-Dieskau.

You'll find the remaining composition in the Hollywooder Songbook.
You'll need the original German title of this song, which is dedicated to something on which you could hear the other two pieces.
I'lll pop back in half an hour or so, after lunch, hope that's OK!
