It's very nice, thanks. I'm told there are 365 restaurants on the island! We've been really lucky with the weather, breezy but dry and sunny. I hope you weren't washed away. That was an awful business in the west of Wales.

I have no idea, probably because Holland are going to lose!

And I imagine you, sitting on a rock in the bay, bottle of white anchored in the sand, cooled by lapping waves, reciting poetry ......

Total fantasy of course! I do, sometimes, go off on flights of fantasy. Only to be brought down to earth with a bump! But, why were Holland so dreadful? Edit: Or Denmark so good.

                Reality bites!!

Bonne soirée to the Flays, glowing from a precision pedicure...

                Yes the Dutch were disappointing

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Nor is naive, but we obviously are!

Is this No1 hit recent or one I'm likely to know.

is the satnav message the title of a song ? e.g. is it on this page ?

approximately what era is the symphony ?
what year was the no. 1 single ?
please could I have a clue

The satnav message is the title of a song.
The No. 1 single did not originally have English lyrics.
The symphony is only just in double digits, and very close to Military.

I'm now going to watch the Rostropovitch documentary, but I'll pause half-way through and see how you're all getting on.

And, you have lost your audience. Footie. 25 mins on and Germany haven't scored and no-one cares about stuff like symphonies

                            so Haydn's no. 99 in E flat
ninety and nine being two words beginning with N

a possible message from a Californian satnav = the title of a song.

and a symphony in E-flat major - only just in double digits, and very close to Military
I've found this very testing! Above are the original elements of the puzzles merged with Northender's subsequent clues.

                                Now...

Dealing with the element in my comfort zone: Military suggests Haydn... but that's No 100.... and the only one "only just in double digits" in E-flat major is No 11... which doesn't have a nickname, starting with N or anything else.

(I'm thinking aloud at the moment, you understand! )

Maybe the Haydn link is a red herring. Shostakovich's 11 is pretty military... but is in G minor...

                                More pondering required...

                                Good question though!

"...the isle is full of noises,
