Cloughie, as usual, is economical with his clues. Spike Jones, Spike Jonze or Spike Milligan? And which Bob - is he your Uncle?

There's a Spike Jones album called 'Tribute to Shriners' which seems to be associated with Bob Hope.

You're in fine fettle today, ferns! First 'Montaigneering'... now this...

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

That's not the one. It's a different album, the Bob Hope connection is film-related.
