No. The X is an initial letter.

          A generous clue

It which case it's Don Giovanni and the Variations are Beethoven's Variationen über 'Là ci darem la mano', WoO 28 ... Is that it?

Does the X reflect the fact that there are, again, 10 variations?

Don Giovanni is the correct reference, but the variations are specifically NOT by Beethoven.

the 28th variation of the collaborative Vaterländischer Künstlerverein is by a Mozart

whose middle name was ..................... ?

Now what about the other two with the same middle name?

                    oh bother

Don Giovanni was (probably?) completed at the home of Frantisek Xaver Dusek
Franz Xaver Gruber composed the music for the Christmas carol Silent Night
Franz Xaver Wolfgang Mozart, youngest child of WAM composed the 28th variation of the second part of Vaterländischer Künstlerverein

The Yellow Rose of Texas refers to Emily Morgan's part in the battle; A.D. sang the role of the Yellow Princess; and ME played the bass drum on 'Yellow Submarine'. Haven't worked out the Atlantic breezes reference yet.
