WEll, I'm stumped now. I can't hink of any female opera singer whose name has any connection with part of a road, in any european language that I know.

Camber, tarmac, paving, base, asphalt, kerb???

No...how do you get Horne ?

Don't forget the role I am looking for has been sung by all three. You have two of them and so all you need do is look through and compare their discography

                    hercule & don!

Well, the only role I can think of that starts with a W that is in any way famous is Werther. And that's unlikely to be sung by a soprano.

I'm a bit bemused by it all at the moment, particulary as vocal works are not a great field for me. I did get to Werther at one point, and then backed away like you. But then I started off with Waterstones, Water Vole, and Water Run-off, so what do I know?

thanks for explaining the joke Don!! - is it Boxing Day today?, I'm not quite with it.

I blame it on the Christmas pudding - not enough of it yet?

(I did have a thought that perhaps I was the last person in the world to remember the kirby grip - not that I ever used them myself, you understand.)

                              Waltraute - The right language.

Re the third singer...maybe more motorway than road perhaps.
