Yes, he does. Bowed down by the system and abandoning his Socialist principles.
Oh hang on, what's new? Islington anyone?
It's a very good read. However, we are diverting this thread but, but, have you read Down & Out in Paris and London? Anthony Bourdain has nothing on that! And you know what I mean! But I must go now. In fact, all of Orwell is worth reading, forgetting the two famous ones (1984 and Animal), but Coming up for Air is brilliant and the very sad A Clergyman's Daughter plus Burmese Days. The Road to Wigan Pier, an essay of course, and Homage to Catalonia.
Edit: Now I am offline for a while.

If you google "New York (upstate), Virginia, North Carolina, Hawaii" you get the American Plumbing Web.

So the answer must be U-bend

"(simultaneously)"? Are we looking for a world premiere shared between these locations?

You're looking for one person (whose name does not begin with 'U') who has musical links with five locations, one of which does (begin with 'U', that is). Having struggled a bit, I just thought I might try a somewhat different form of question.
                  HOPEFULLY HELPFUL EDIT
One of this person's predecessors in New York State was Michael Tilson Thomas.

Would you care to tell everyone about the lady, now that you've found her, who links Ulster with the other four locations?
                      EDIT:
The link you've posted does of course explain everthing. JoAnn Falletta, Principal Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra, also holds posts with the Buffalo Philharmonic and orchestras in the three other States.

Oh heck, drat it, silly me and my big mouth...

                        JoAnn Falletta

In addition to her appointment as Principal Conductor of the Ulster Orchestra in May 2011, Maestro Falletta - whohas been described by The New York Times as ‘one of the finest conductors of her generation’ - serves as the Music Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra in the United States and was recently appointed Principal Guest Conductor of the Brevard Music Center in North Carolina. She is also Artistic Advisor to the newly formed Hawaii Symphony Orchestra.

I reckon that the stretcher bearer composer might be Dutilleux?

And if not, Ralph Vaughan Williams will have to do
