Born in Cologne means Offenbach also had a German bite! Cali P off as soon as you like - I must away to the garden before it gets too hot to toil!

Been at the Oscar Wilde lately, Cloughie!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

This P unites a swallow, a duck and a curlew.

UPDATE: Have to be offline for an hour or so. Happy solving.

Peter Warlock :The Curlew, Duck (Bethlehem Down), Swallow (tea and stuff from Captain Stratton's Fancy) - I know it'll be wrong - but it's very inventive - yes?

            Apologies for prolonged absence.

Cloughie - very inventive... and even partially correct!

Peter Warlock is one of the three Peters who constitute the solution

            Yes to his curlew.

You need two fictional Peters to complete the answer
"...the isle is full of noises,

              Peter and the Wolf?

Peter Duck is the third book in Swallows and Amazons.

Peter and the Wolf is the next Peter

The Peter-Swallow link is nothing to do with birds

                    Indeed!

Flay, RM and Cloughie share the spoils bu I reckon Clougie gets to set the next as he got the Peter solution

Seconded. Actually I thought my Swallows and Amazons was rather good as it picked off two Peters' at the same time

I thought it exceptionally good because when I saw it was Peter I remembered I'd mentioned the Peter Duck story a couple of weeks ago here so nearly posted it myself!!

Missed that! Were you in invisible mode at the time?!

                              Wot's Cloughie up to?

It wasn't on AA, it was on childrens' stories revisited. I picked Peter Duck up in a charity shop and re-acquainted myself. I liked Swallows & Amazons, although the girls were generally a bit wet.
