      No need to apologise!

Incidentally, as I have nothing other to contribute at the moment, I've been meaning to ask: does your pseudonym indicate Mahlerian tendencies?

While we're passing the time of day, Calibs, and while Anna is nowhere to be seen, a bit more about my local Social and Literary society. I should add that it is men only. We do invite women once a year for Ladies' Night, if they are good...

For the rest of the year, does Mrs F feel deprived or fortunate...?

Is O by any chance Orange.

There is an Orange Opera Festival in France
Love of the Three Oranges was premiered at the New York Opera
            Jazz Clarinetist called Orange Kellin

Well done, cloughie. Perfect in every way. The Orange festival is rather fun to go to especially if you then tack on the Aix festival as well.

Caliban...I am partial to Mahler and his Resurrection Symphony in particular although I could get to like Messaien !

                    Not Panama.

The 'country' refers to country music. The P is a forename, a surname and in a song.

Cole Porter and that stalwart of the Music Hall and one that Am51 loves to sing along to 'Oh Mr Porter, what shall I do?'

If it is right then the spoils go to mercia.

I feel that - doubtless along with vinrouge - I am in somewhat of a Radio 3 no-man's-land...

Dolly Parton? She's in the country music hall of fame and co-wrote the musical 9 to 5.

My other guess is Pygmalion. I'm not expecting either to be right.

                              Phoenix?

By The Time I Get to Phoenix - Jimmy Webb
River Phoenix - Seven Brides for Seven Brothers
Phoenix Theatre - Home of Blood Brothers

It might not be River. It could be his brother Joaquin (Leaf) Phoenix for "Walk the Line", the film about Johnny Cash.

......or Rain Phoenix, their sister, for "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues". It must be one of these!
