der arme Heinrich - Pfitzner. Well done - and ? and ? It seems hard-hearted to force everyone to the bitter end/

The other opera was DAS HERZ and the third work was ALT WEISEN. Phew.

Now on with the Q? R?

Good Sunday wishes to all in the foggy south.

It's foggy up north too! A challenging conundrum, Angle! Thanks for that Anna's law summation. I have tried to post the answers a few times this morning after that mercia somersault, only to be waylaid by the Mrs. We have had 10 family members staying overnight and she assumes I should be paying them some attention

Herr Pfitzner apparently found the Nazi era somewhat challenging.

We've done quodlibet and quadrille so I'll think about an R

          That's what I call a nice relaxing weekend... !

Positively heroic of you to dare to come anywhere near the Forum

I went out last night with an old mate for a curry and too many and whiskies last night, till very very late. I'm going to make even less sense of AA puzzles than normal today I fear

I wonder if a junior Flay is trying to make a film of some totalitarian rally for a media studies project, and needs a substantial cast?

Sounds like you had a good post-prandial lash-up Caliban - in my local Bangladeshi resto they positively push you to have a free scotch or brandy on the house with your free After Eights - very nishe

<phew> They've gone, fortunately it was a flying visit. Mrs Flay is now at Asda, I am charged with hoovering and generally tidying up

On a whim, find me an R: the Wolf was fiddled by Camille according to Vlad.

This makes me think of at least one piano encore... Vladimir Horowitz arranged Camille Saint-Saens's 'Danse Macabre' as an encore.

It that on the right lines?

Meantime, I'd better keep it clean: frenchie's security team have set up an undercover surveillance unit on Queensway... Imagine the start I gave just now when I saw this for the first time

Well I'm sure the Tuk Tuk is staying alert tonight!

Saint-Saëns is one of the three composers, but his is not the piano piece.

intriguing - so Vlad is a composer ?

                    Hugo Wolf ?

                    a violin piece by Saint-Saens ?

No, the Hugo piece is for piano. Vlad's is for a rather different keyboard instrument.

rondoes had crossed my mind at some stage

IMSLP looks like a good source for questions, if I can find my way around
