Did you see it yourself? Sounds like one of those 'urban myths', at least among the musical fraternity...

Brilliant! ... "Entry March of the Boyars" by Halvorsen

In that case: Richard Strauss: "Feierlicher Einzug der Ritter des Johanniter-Ordens (Procession - Solemn Entry)" for brass & timpani

Anyone noticed, there's fewer than 500 to go before this thread has notched up half-a-million views...

Surely this must be the most used thread - not sure what it says of the sanity of the participants - I guess Mrs C and Mrs F could put forward a view!

                Your late Entries are correct!

all you need now is the deity!

                  Isn't it Fucik's Gladiators, Halvorsen's Boyars and Strauss's Knights?

Depends what the plural of Deity is ? Is Deity not a group? You may be right!

Whichever but you chose the wrong Richard!

No I think Deity = God (singular)... Edited my post above but I think I spelt Valhalla wrong

That's the boy - Don't you love the sound of it on the Solti recording?

                            It's late - I've lost track - Who's the F - probably yours on a majority verdict but it'll wait while morning!

Yes... Sounds magnificent. Heydays for the VPO (cf agreement about the Kertesz 'New World').

I remember finding a pile of the complete Solti / Ring Cycle boxes, just after they remastered it into a really nice compact box, in a shop in Berlin for about a tenner a pop I staggered back with a bagful and everyone got one for Christmas! (Kept one for myself, of course, as I didn't have it yet)....

(Up there in the bargain stakes with the Barshai/Shostakovich box for 2 quid in Superdrug a year or so later! )

I can't set an F I'm afraid, off out first thing for the whole day tomorrow...

I vote Roslynmuse who cracked the E
