Yes - Niedermeyer - friend of Rossini (whom he helped with some of his Paris productions) and founder of the School of Music which still today bears his name and at which Fauré and Saint-Saens were both teachers.

    O! It's Flay next!

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments

      Gabriel Fauré studied there too.

Niedermeyer collaborated with Rossini for Robert Bruce (1846). He "provided the all-important French texts with their characteristic tone color and harmonies."

Obviously he didn't have the benefit of Google Translate!

Mrs Flay has been out this evening, but is now back and thinks I should be doing better things!!

Edit: not that! ...Things like tidying up the mess, putting things away, putting myself and the dogs to bed...

Petula Clark was in that as well - the deja vu of AA never ceases to amaze! It became a TV series did it not?

Oh dear, is it me again? Three Os: one a masquerading military nurse, one deceased and interred, and the third could not say more.

12 hours of silence... the composer responsible for my clues is quite topical at present - for all the wrong reasons

Halloo, View, Halloo, Flay, I am here! By 'eck Lad, didst thou think I'd leave thee all lonesome ... Now, let's gerra grip on these them there O's (how am I doing for a Northern accent?)
Edit: sorry, I've been all through composers and not found one trans-gendered with leanings towards the nursing profession. I did find Sullivan composed for Queen Alexandra and her nurses, so, sorry, but a blank here has been drawn.

Yes, he's the man. However I need to correct myself slightly. (Takes slight breath in, shifts awkwardly from one leg to the other with eyebrows slightly raised, bends forward a little...) When I set the original clue all 3 elements were to do with BB, the third being a biographer. Then I changed the latter to something unrelated. When I miserably posted #27982 I was sitting in a hospital coffee shop awaiting my pre-op tests (nothing major, just the old varicose veins ) and had forgotten about my late-night clue

Well he would have been 99, but that's not the word on the card

Oh, tough shit Flay, my grandpa was invalidiated out of the army for Varicoceles
Actually, I would say, never have your veins stripped, you may need them for a heart bypass
Edit: I know not the answer.

I didn't know Varicocoeles had an army...

As for my veins, they are no longer in a suitable state to be used in a CABG, so no worries! Thanks for caring.
