Three 4th Symphonies by composers of the same name (almost).

No - Did Sam Goldwyn make him shorten it?

Good to see you on here, Throppers. We need all the help we can get... Part of the "fun" is in asking for additional clues, making educated (or otherwise ) guesses.

Mind you, we don't do AA for fun. It's an obligation

not sure if that's a question about Schoenberg's name or a clue to this question

indicates we are after three similarly- but not identically-named writers of 4th symphonies...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Then what would be the significance of the 4th symphonies? Surely the symphonies' names must be the S, rather than the composers'???

well Schumann and Schuman fit the American/German and fourth symphonies components, though William Schuman wrote more than 4 so I don't quite understand the significance of number 4

is there another composer Schuman{n} ?
