              Now there's a challenge!

... trouble is, Schurig is Austrian, not Norwegian.

I double beg his pardon! The first mistake was from memory. The second occured with the CD in front of me (I felt sure "Schurichte" was wrong)!

The Ultima Oslo Festival is the only link I can find with Ultima and Norway - need another tilt in the right direction!

I refer the honourable gentleman to the replies I gave recently...

Composer, Norwegian, sounds like he could be coughing up green stuff, perhaps like a Belgian language.... (and it's not a Mass so must be one of the other two which is both the same... )

Allow me to put my nose in front:
Kjell Flem (1943) was born in Ă…lesund, and studied ......Flem started composing his first work for orchestra, Ultima Thule, the Latin for Arctic Regions in Finland in 1969, and completed it later in the USA. Ultima Thule unfolds in a series of images inspired by the vast geographical and climatic contrasts of the Arctic regions, expressed through the composer's experimentation with varying timbral combinations.
