The "Danish" was the giveaway. Waldemar is the principal male character in Schönberg's Gurre-lieder, who curses God after his wife has murdered his mistress. (Sometimes even I think that God gets a bum deal!)

I can't go any further today; my partner's coming home from a fortnight in hospital this afternoon, so I'll only intermittently be seated at the keyboard. If somebody else would take over the baton (as Sir Simon said recently)?

Bravo ferney - I hope that all goes well with your partner's return

Meanwhile, from another part of Gurrelieder the wonderful and aged Hans Hotter ....

So in the absence of Ferney who will rise to the challenge? Mercia?

I'm glad that you enjoyed it too, RM - I was lucky enough to be there and Hotter caused a sensation. Quite memorable

In the absence of Ferney, I'll fulfil Coles Law!

The Polish pianist was Waldemar Malicki http://www.waldemarmalicki.com/

The piano was a Waldemar Berlin ...difficult to Google...

The banned opera was Die falsche Waldemar by Paul Höffer who was born in Berlin

and lastly King Waldemar in Gurrelieder

Here's a clue. They are all musicians. Wind instruments.
