Not really; a piece of Music written for a project that never came to fruition. The composer was a friend of Meredith's.

My goodness, things are moving rabidly

The pun was the writer of a twelve-tone Italian Job.

But it was the Bible-black Job

OMG, I've just cracked the answer I'm sure!! There's a turn up for the books And Flay knew it all along, bless him, he's so self-effacing and modest!
Edit: Very clever, convoluted puzzle, ferney!

Well I'm lost, I have been working (and am still supposed to be). But I found this just now:

Dance for Burgess, for chamber orchestra, survives from another failed sojourn into the world of entertainment music. The actor Burgess Meredith [Pengy], a friend of Varèse’s, was getting ready to act in and direct a musical called Happy as Larry. Meredith requested a short dance for the production, to be choreographed by Anna Sokolow, but the show folded almost immediately and Varèse seems to have forgotten about the music.

Dr. Flay, I thought your answer was Edgar Varèse!! Crikey, we are both delusional! (I am excused due to running high fever, you have no excuse!)

Anna, I am sure that the answer is Varèse:

Another admirer was the rock/jazz group Chicago, whose pianist/keyboardist Robert Lamm credited Varèse as a strong influence in his songwriting. In tribute, one of Lamm's songs was called "A Hit By Varèse".
But my "Italian Job" quote was from my clue farmyards away.

Now: about Ms Nin ... ?

                          Quite right too!

Do ordinary message boarders read and understand what goes on in the AA pages?

Blimey - cross-posting like Twister tonight!

A full house! Total respect, as always, to Anna, but full details from Flay who gets the next letter (which, by recents standards, is probably a G!)
