    Well there's a Donizetti opera called 'The Duke of Alba'.... and Modesty on AA usually means Mussorgsky... there's an opera by him called 'Marriage' based on Gogol...

    EDIT: cross posted with mercs... well the latter work was certainly unfinished by Modest... Was the Mona Lisa (Smile) left unfinished by LdV? Not sure about the Donizetti...

        Well; mercs went straight to the answer (Unfinished ) and supplied the missing Beach Boys coleslaw, but Cali gave us the operas by Donizetti and Mussorgsky. Mercs seems eager to pass the laurels, so would Cali oblige us vith his usual va-va-voom, please.

              Giovanni Battista Viotti (12 May 1755 – 3 March 1824) was an Italian violinist

              Jean-Féry Rebel (18 April 1666 – 2 January 1747) was an innovative French Baroque composer and violinist.

              jean-joseph martin made violin bows

                                Monsieur Mondonville had a premiere at Versailles.

                                Jean-Féry Rebel was a member of The Vingt-quatre Violons du Roi (engl. "The King's 24 Strings") were founded 1626 under Louis XIII. As part of the Musique de la Chambre they played an important role in the musical accompaniment of festivities and official events at the Versailles court.

                                Giovanni Battista Lully (became Jean-Baptiste) spent most of his working life in the court of Louis XIV
