Sorry - abruptly called away last night and an early start this morning. I have to go out early this morning and may be some time, but I think you've got it if you want to continue to a B. I'll supply the frozen coleslaw later, but now I need to warm up my oates.

            - the former.

EDIT: The coleslaw - the four texts are those that head the first four movements of the Sinfonia Antartica. On the first recording (Boult with the LPO/Decca) they were read by Sir Ralph Richardson. The last movement is prefaced by an excerpt from the last entry in Scott's diary.

There was a time when people would panic if an hour had passed without a contribution. <sigh> Never mind, AA shall live still!

Geoffrey Bush wrote a Christmas Cantata
Of course Kate Bush wrote Lionheart

A bard... hmm... Sibelius...Stanford? I cannot see a shrubby link.

Am I Beating about the Bush?

We have been remiss, haven't we. Nice one Flay. For various reasons I have lacked the necessary elbow-room in the Space-Time Continuum to Associate freely
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I haven't looked in for ages either, haven't got time to play at the mo but I think Flay could be right because Kate Bush had 50 Words for Snow (link for Bleak Midwinter possibly?)

is this Sibelius's The Bard ? or some other Shakespearean orchestral work ?

I don't find any B places particularly associated with Holst, Darke or Rossetti

Lionheart: could this relate to Handel's Riccardo Primo, or to Richard Cœur-de-lion by André Grétry? The only B I can see is Belgium for the latter.

I am desperately trying to fit Barnsley into the solution. The band Saxon is from Barnsley. Their 16th studio album was called Lionheart.

How am I doing so far, Anton?

                              Nothing to do but wait
                              Since the solution
                              Is beyond life -
                              Beyond dissolution.

Ooh! I think you've got it, Flay. The Bard of Barnsley is Ian McMillan and there is an "Ian McMillan Orchestra":
