Nothing to do with Donizetti. Two of the operas concerned exist in German versions as well as Italian.

Are we talking Henry II of England or France?

      Ivanhoe - Rossini or Sullivan?

Arthur Norton - anything to do with Arthur of Round Table fame?

        Henry II of England.

Ivanhoe nothing to do with Rossini or Sullivan.

Lord Arthur Norton much later than King Arthur.

          Characters in operas

          Rosmonda d'Inghilterra / Enrico II
          Il templario
Die Heimkehr des Verbannten / Il proscritto (War of the Roses potboiler featuring Lord Arthur Norton )

          by Otto Nicolai
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
          Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Got there at last. Three operas all set in England. Il Templario also has a German version: Der Tempelritter .

Which O connects The Emperor's New Clothes with Rossini and No 16a?

oh, I had Henry's mistress down as Diana of Poitiers (wrong Henry) who has a film about her with music by Miklos Rozsa (as does Ivanhoe). Might save that for later, now I've told you.

I was led down that line also. It was a difficult one for me to solve - not into opera and knew little of the works of Nicolai - do the operas have nice overtures like Merry Wives of Windsor?

                                OK, it's Odense:

Symphony in A minor "Odense" labelled K. 16a, initially attributed Mozart - discovered as a copy in the archives of the Municipal Symphony Orchestra in Odense, Denmark in 1982.
Hans Christian Andersen was born on 2nd April 1805 in Odense, Denmark ( I couldn't find any musical association).
                                Rossini: Sinfonia di Odense (A1948)
