As an aside in googling Nyman Lament - the response came back did I mean Norman Lamont - no even I prefer minimalist composers to failed chancellors - and I'm not that keen oh the former!

He nearly stepped out in front of my car on Kensington High Street the other day.

The annoying former chancellor, that is. Not the annoying minimalist bloke.

      Lamentably I give in!

Cloughie got Dido's Lament and I think he got Howard Hanson's The Lament for Beowulf.

Subby stormed in with Arvo Pärt's Adam's Lament

      Magnificent!

      Who claims M?

Did this L not really stray from the Classical Association thread, with its musical connections, or has that (now closed?) been subsumed here?

I dunno, Pulcie - I treat ClassAss like sherry (only touched at Christmas) so don't know if a theme there continued over here. Flay's Lamentations fulfilled the brief of AlphaAss so didn't influence my total inability to get anywhere near the correct answer

Careless talk costs threads - you'll have BBM popping up and trying to shut us down....!

Just start again, but rename it "Mozart" - that'll keep him away.

A pure coincidence. But lovely to see another poster on these pages. Please stay and help us associate the alphabet, Pulchy

Well, I had thought of lament, getting the Dido and Beowulf connection, but didn't get the tripartite bit!
Thanks for the encouragement to join in, but most are way beyond me!

PS: Is it perhaps time for a part II thread, maybe when A comes round again, like there is for the What are you listening to now? thread? This page takes an age to load on my iPad!

Perhaps it should be done on R then you'd have Reasons to be Cheerful Part 2
