Jose Maria Usandizaga (a student of d'Indy):

Opera - Las golondrinas (The Swallows)
Lyric drama - La llama (The Flame)
Opera - Mendi Mendiyan (High in the Mountains)

You should be pulling out all the stops for this V. He would have done.

I'm reasonably confident he's a first for AA!

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

I think you speak of M. Louis Vierne, do you not?

                    He wrote:

More grief: which additional W is behind the Whispering and dressing of Wounds amid scenes of War ?

There's no way I'm tackling X even if I'm right with my guess, so I shall only say that the words of John Adams' piece The Wound-Dresser are by Walt Whitman, and leave it to others to fill in the rest of the answer.

we're allowed to omit X, Y and Z under house rules

Then can I repeat my suggestion above that a new thread is started with A?
If I am correct, I happily defer to a host to do this.
As a newcomer to the thread, I'm not sure how much connection there has to be.
Ned Rorem wrote his War Scenes to words of Walt Whitman.
Whitman also wrote Whispers of heavenly death.
So is that it, or do I need to find some musical setting of the whispers?

Busy for most of the rest of the day (and tomorrow) so even if charged to come up with an A it would be better for A N Other to do this, especially if we get a new thread going, to avoid any hiatus.

I was only joking about "house rules" - I don't think there are any rules looks like you're onto it with Whitman, well done. I shouldn't worry about hiatus either, but I shall defer to caliban on this.
