I think we have yet to find yours, Anna

EDIT: Now why did you delete that last bit, I wonder?

Yes, I did, because there are, great gaping holes of which, sometimes, I am very aware of. Silly really isn't it to be so aware of such things? Oh well, orft to the kitchen now.

Of course, some would argue that Withnail and Round the Horne don't count as Culture and therefore cannot add to the sum of cultural knowledge. And others would add Coronation Street to the Liszt...

When I were in Lancs, why only t'other week, yes, only t'other week and I said, are you watching Corrie? To which, thankfully, the answer was Nay Lass but are you stopping for a brew? I have tried with Liszt but to no avail.

Sorry to be awkward, but, good though it is, it's not my favourite. That honour has for some time been shared by 'Picnic At Hanging Rock' and 'A Room With a View'.

                  Call the Police, Miss Blennerhasset!

In a previous job, a work colleague and fellow Withnail-freak set himself the task of conversing in nothing but quotes from this film for an entire working day, including when talking with the boss. He achieved his aim spectacularly.

I appear to have struck an artery here! I hope it may encourage "Uncle Monty" of this parish to join in our merrymaking...

                  Now...

....which of you is going to be a splendid fellow and go down to the Rolls for the rest of the wine?
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                  Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Oh yes, Picnic at Hanging Rock, but how about Walkabout, 1971 film set in Australia, directed by Nicolas Roeg and starring Jenny Agutter, now that is brilliant I think.

which of you is going to be a splendid fellow and go down to the Rolls for the rest of the wine?
Well, I may be splendid but not a fellow but I'll gladly troll down to the Rolls if it means an encounter with a man in uniform!

I feel somewhat responsible for a deviation here, and thus remind the assembled company of the matter at hand, namely mercia's teasing:

Now, I am really off to the kitchen for a while and will behave.

right blokes but not Beach Boys and not Rhonda, I'm afraid

(this is not my expertise I must admit)

                                I'm happy to provide clues
once you know what a whimbrel is I think you'll be away
