Well, I'd say that's pretty darn good. Diamond's a hard one for sure. Can you get the 10 million connection?

The American composer, David Diamond, wrote 11 Symphonies

            Scrub that!

What do we think, class? Is Mercia an ignoramus and a philistine, or do we applaud his frankness and, again, his admirable problem-solving skills? Put it this way, I have a few of Mr. Diamond's recorded works but I can happily live without them. ouch!

A clue for the first: Spandau Ballet's third album features a song of which you'd need twenty to make up a diamond...

                    not sales, but shipments, perhaps

The RIAA certification of unit sales to be exact. 500,000= Gold, 1,000,000= Platinum and 10,000,000= Diamond

                      Very well done, Mercia

                            Which I duly did.

Andrew then says "Now, can I call you Anna instead of Ms. *******" i

I declined and he seemed a bit put out about that, then I said "I would prefer to do an review in my local branch if you don't mind" He then asked if I wished him to be verified as a bona fide ****** banker. I repeated I would rather do this in branch and he said "But I've got all your financial details in front of me - I can tell you the balance in all your accounts"

End of conversation. I dunno why, but that upset me that some bloke in a call centre presumes to call me Madam and is casting his eye over me financials.
Anna: it's a good general principle to NEVER engage in a telephone conversation of this kind unless you yourself have initiated it!!! Ask the caller for his or her number and ring back. If he or she declines, then there's a good chance that there's something fishy going on. If the caller DOES have details of all your accounts, you may wonder why, and how he got them. The fact that he or she has this information doesn't necessarily mean that he or she acquired it legitimately, and you may be providing him or her with more valuable nuggets of personal information. Sorry if I sound alarmist, but you REALLY can't be too careful in such suituations.
