    I have an H forming as we speak, if you'd like...
    Gird your loins, rubbers, and make it a good one.

    Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
    Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
    Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

      I'll try.

      What H connects:
      - an Oscar-winning composer;
      - a Swiss-born instrumentalist and composer;
      - musical tributes to a satellite and to a singer who died on the A4?

        Oh, I was about to post "Sweet" and then realised we are looking for an "H" How many singers have perished on the A4, not a lot

          Heinz?

          -Roemheld http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_Eric_Roemheld
          -Holliger
          -Burt http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heinz_(singer) - it was Eddie Cochrane who died on the A4

          Can't tie in the satellite though...

            Heinz Burt was a member of the Tornadoes whose best "hit" was Telstar (produced by Joe Meek).

                He shoots... he SCORES... CALIBBAAAAANNN!!!

                Heinz was also a member of The Tornados who had a hit with 'Telstar' in 1962. First US number one by a UK group, I think.

                EDIT: ok, you heard it from ferneyhough first

                  Ferney, as a welcome presence here, would you like to set us an "I" question (or a "J" coz "I" can be a ba*tard) seeing as I am going off line shortly? Would be great if you could

                      I have been following this thread like a fish out of water (I was following an idea about "Heaven" in the last challenge!), but here goes:

                      What's the trendy connection between a doubly negative lack of respect in Venice, an adorable prayer formulated in 1974, and a (distantly beloved?) set of openings started in 1996?

                        Sounds very intriguing This is an I question, I take it? I'm wondering if the double negative is our friend Luigi popping up again. He was born in Venice.

                          Just looking in here. I can see that the questioner (aka 'I') is, by name, a connection between distantly and beloved. Probably a clever red herring?

                            Sorry, yes; it is an "I"-opener!

                            Keep following Luigi, but one of his works rather than the man himself.

                              Well, I was thinking of Intolleranza 1960 and other examples of intolerance but then came to a bit of a halt...
