OF COURSE, vinty! The "Flight into Egypt" from L'Enfance du Christ! (That's twice today I've overlooked Berlioz!)

So: Blight of the Feeble Bum
    Flight into Egypt
    Flight of the Liver Birds
    ?

... err ... except that Flight of the Liver Birds wasn't the "Theme Tune". Scrub that.

Oh well done, ferne... I was racking my brain for a late 60s female trio that fits this. Been rummaging around the Supremes, Martha & the Vandellas... so to speak

Are you sure your solution isn't right, it seems so likely

Flight Of The Bumble Bee is correct.
Berlioz - yes, but where does the 'precursor' come in?
Nobody's got the right TV series yet....what's another way of saying 'female trio'?

Because the three-movement Flight into Egypt existed as an entity before being incorporated into the larger L'enfance du Christ ??

                          Yes, the link was FLIGHT.
'The Flight of the Bumble Bee', from Rimsky-Korsakov's 'The Tale of Tsar Saltan'
Pentangle's 'Light Flight' was used as the theme song for the 1969 TV series 'Take Three Girls'
Berlioz composed a piece called 'The Flight into Egypt ' (La Fuite dans l'Egypte) that he later incorporated into 'L'Enfance du Christ'.
fgh and mercia seemed to have made equally valuable contributions, and it was nice to hear from oddball, so I'll leave it to them to decide who sets 'G'.

It takes someone with a larger music knowledge base than I possess to set these questions, so let's leave it to fhg.

Take Three Girls! With Susan Jameson (IIRC) playing the single mother of a son called "Aeneas", which my younger self thought utterly naff!
So much for my research into Charlie's Angels or a possible sitcom called Three Little Maids!

And isn't Flight the title of Jonathan Dove's first opera?

Are you sure you trust a mind that works this way with a G?

                                If so:

                                A G that connects:

                                Conan Doyle's thoroughbred
                                Marin Marais' actor
and (extra hard) a serial contributor to Sporting Life.

Answer non-musical; one answer musical, the others more literary.
