No, 'fraid not. On the second one you were much closer with Alto.
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Just plain "Viola" ("Alto" in French)?

My bedtime: anyone else want a go at large, stuck up violas?

        Or any NEW Viola jokes?

Anna: no, nobody has. It's one that isn't in my dictionary though

Oh Bugger. I am off to bed then, in a sulk.

The Profunda was invented by a Bolivian. Not a lot of people know that

Tenor Viola? or Viola Alta? (large - they are both the same length)

                  Viola Pomposa? (stuck up)

Aha! I was following the "Alt(o)" = "high" = "up" blind alley.
I think you have it, sir!

                        Dear Anna
As you know, many of us have developed a keen interest in matters Welsh as a result of reading your messages. This 'sulk' of which you speak - is it an item of nightwear, or some form of resting-place - possibly akin to a hammock? (Please feel free to embellish your explanation with photographs if available).
In a spirit of nothing more than honest socio-cultural scholasticism
                        I remain
                        etc. etc.

SCB: two hits, two palpable hits! ('Twas 'alta' not 'tenor' since the latter does not appear under V.) I believe it now falls to you to come up with a W. Or UU?

'Sulk' is cleary a slip of the fingers for 'sulky'. Anna's sleeping quarters are obviously at some remove from her computer so she went off to bed in the latter, 'a light two-wheeled, sometimes bodiless, vehicle for one person'.

I think the honour of the next question should go to ferneyhoughgeliebte, who gave the bulk of the answers. I just filled in a couple of gaps after consulting Grove.
