No, we haven't. (Or I hope not as it's the "missing link"!) After Toscanini's retirement, NBC "disbanded" the "super orchestra" it had created for him: the sacked members regrouped, called themselves "The Symphony of the Air" and invited Stokowski to be their "name" conductor.

In the absence of Vinty, who's is the next F-fort?

Surely Anna will be too busy awaiting her delivery? Is it a boy or a girl, Anna, or don't you know? You kept your pregnancy very quiet. We are all thrilled for you. Good luck x x

Why thank you Flay! The arrival was timed for 10am at the latest but the Stork has telephoned ahead to say that the gooseberry bush will be with me in 5 minutes!

Meanwhile, let's have a quick and easy one:

            An F which links:
            Something lacking at The Proms?
            An annual event near Paris
            Frederick’s was magic!
Liszt had fun and games with it

I hope the delivery went well

              How about Fountains?

There aren't any real Fountains at the Proms
Fred Delius - The Magic Fountain
Liszt Les jeux d'eaux à la Villa d'Este (The Fountains of the Villa d'Este)

But annually near Paris? Haven't the Foggiest

Well done Flay! It is Fountain, the something lacking at the Prom is that this year they removed the fountain in the Arena, and the now annual event near Paris was started by Louis XIV with the fountains of Versailles, where the water jets dance to the music (as an additional clue I would have posted The Smiths in their Scottish phase and Reel around the Fountain! )

What G links a criminal bird, a sporting erstwhile crybaby, and an Antipodean film?

Really nice F, Anna... Having seen the answers I might have been able to do it without wiki - but then one often thinks that after the event (though not always ). Pity I got back online too late to have a crack at it!
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Gosh, I had forgotten about that, another was too, you are correct, ferney.

The third I threw in just because I felt we were ideally supposed to contribute 3 alternatives. I'm not fussed about having an answer for the last one
