Yep: studied (briefly) with Schoenberg and worked for the pre-Murdoch 20th Century Fox - the recording studios of which he hired to record the Kolisch Quartet performing the four Quartets of his revered teacher. Nice man.

"Lusty"/"Randy" (Cloughie rapped my wrists over a similar cheap pun in an earlier Thread); wrote the theme songs for the splendid Monk detective series.

So three Newman: Ernest, Alfred and Randy. I toyed with Cardinal, but the clue seemed to be one of those that gave everything away at once.
