    Why didn't I listen to this?!

        I have to go out in about ten minutes and won't be back until about 4:30/5 o'clock, if anyone wants a "go" or a clue?

          Whither you wander, Ferney?

          Quando you go?

          It's the beat, beat, beat of the Bossa Nova that gets me going!

          You're so Bohemian!

            My wandering withers were supposed to be corrected by an operation a month ago!

            Quando you go?
            I knew someone would have got it by now!

            Go on; give details so we can move on (which the operation was also intended to help!)

              Rubbers is obviously still high after mainlining bone marrow down Heston's...
              "...the isle is full of noises,
              Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
              Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

                Sorry to hear that, Ferney, I wish you swift and painless correctional procedure.

                Serious details:

                  ... 'though you might have to "translate"!
                  The R is yours: I have to go - LATE!

                    I also have to go - LATTE!

                    Look forward to two things from rubbers after coffee: an R and a run down of his choices and reactions during his dinner engagement...

                      Tasted great, though!

                      But seriously,what a ridiculous wine list. It was either run-of-the-moulin plonk at £40 a bottle or you were almost into three figures. Mrs R wouldn't let me run to a Saint-Estephe, and rather than risk an indifferent Gevrey, I plumped for an Australian Pinot. Jolly nice it was too.

                      The food was exceptionally good (even better than Tom Aikens last week...) We had a table right next to the window of the main kitchen and were able clearly to view the 15 or so chefs going about their efficient business of chopping, poaching, searing, and plating, which all enhanced the experience.

                      Most of the flesh is cooked sous vide (poached in a vaccuum) and finished off in a flaming oven. Various seasonings and sauces in canisters are applied in a never-ending production line. It is almost like watching an orchestra.

                      Bone Marrow was good but Rice and Flesh even better. Steak with triple cooked chips out of this world, and the Brown Bread ice cream had me in paroxysms of caramelly pleasure.

                      Right, that's quite enough...

                            Cheeky boy...

                            Apologies for the delay, which was entirely and unavoidably work-related.

                            What R connects:
                            - a singer from Wagner's village;
                            - an anachronism from the piano man's first band;
                            - a composer disguised as Mr. Trent?

                              Is this going to be cue for some viola jokes?

                              How do you get a violist to play a passage pianissimo tremolando?
                              Mark it "solo."

                                Firstly, I was glad to see that Lady Rubbers selected my choice of Rice and Flesh Everything is sous vide these days, the on-dit here is that it takes the skill out of cooking, but then, they would say that wouldn't they?
                                Secondly, I have no idea. Billy Joel's first hit was Piano Man but he didn't have a Band. The only Trent I can think of is in The Old Curiosity Shop. Wagner's mythical villages are a mystery to me. So, all in all, why did I bother to post anything?
