      Ah...

As regards the second part, there is such a thing as a 16 string acoustic guitar - that would have 16 tuning pegs... Relevant or not?

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

          Ebony?

... and Ivory (Macca's song inspired by Spike)
Ebony Pegs for violins (sixteen for a string quartet)
          ... don't get the re-Generation thing. French?

Something to do with string quartets? I'm struggling to grasp the Spike - re-Generation angle at all..

Ohh I thought of ebony when I was thinking about tuning pegs...

The third element is the Quatuor EBÈNE then...(but why re-Generation...??

The Ebène (French for ebony) Quartet are/were R3 New Generation artists.

The title for Ebony & Ivory was inspired by McCartney hearing Spike Milligan say "black notes, white notes, and you need to play the two to make harmony, folks!"

Well done to all! Calibs was getting there but was swiftly overtaken by ferney at the last Furlong.

AH! good question. One of those impenetrable-seeming ones that seems sooo easy when you know the answers

Yes - come on, Fernet Branca, get F-ing moving!

I believe George III expresses a similar intention early on in Alan Bennett's play.

Sorry: had to shut down unexpectedly last night before I heard the "result" - please give us your F, Cali: I'll "owe" a later letter, should the knees arrive.

That's about the thighs of it!

Norfy, what was the Alan Bennett / Madness of King George reference please? Haven't seen it for years!

Only just back before the webograph, will have to think of an F. Talk amongst yourselves!

And the stage version of course contains a lot more references to bodily functions than the 'sanitised' film.

Hurry up, Caliban, I feel the twiddles coming on...

Got to be a quick F, the day's conspiring against me...

Please find a French, a Finnish and a magical Spanish F: the last two stand alone, no. 1 is the last of four.

PS: Don't do that, Rubber-Necker - get on with your homework.
