TV Chefs

I have been noticing a body-language-cliche among tv chefs: when tasting a finished dish, they shake their head in what is, conventionally, a 'no' gesture. Often accompanied by a frown.

I wonder how this has come about. Perhaps to convey something like 'No, this could not be better....'

(I've given this thread a more general title, since there may be other things people want to post about them.)

Could be reverting to conscience - as in, "Yet another dish to add to all the others in programmes promoting culinary expertise to maintain obesity permanently in the UK".
