    The Spirit of Christmas

I treated the Thropplenoggin homestead to a bottle of Highland Park 12 Year Old, which merits its reputation as a very smooth, sweet, and slightly smokey dram.

Gin, natch, c/o Tanqueray partnered with Fever-tree Premium tonic water.

And I'm tempted by a Pedro Ximenez sherry, as I've never tried it and it sounds right up my boulevard (I love Sauternes and Monbazillac). M&S do an affordable half-bottle that comes highly-rated.

    What have you got in?
It loved to happen. -- Marcus Aurelius

          Nothing wrong with snowball !!
Enjoy your haul, @Noggo. Should help your recuperation along.
Perhaps even help a person make sense of Derrida....

Table two....I don't think so. Table one or nothing for me.

(shouldn't it be "right up my Callajero" for the sherry.......fnaaar, fnaar......)

Organic, gluten free, locally sourced, better than my Gran and great aunts used to mix.

(PM me if you want a great deal from a bloke I know in the trade....)

Nah, just a load of old

Highland Park 12 yo sounds like a great shout, lovely glugging malt

Here, to keep the family sedated, it's Harvey's Bristol Cream and Bailey's (and a small bottle of Hennessy for the brandy butter and emergencies...)

(*puts up umbrella and awaits T-Nog reaction*)

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
              Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

as long as its voluntary, sedation is fine, as Young@heart show in this splendid version of the classic Ramones song.....

Christmas dinner in Norway, with or without snowballs, happens on 24th in the evening. No turkeys or ducks. But the substance of each course, whether pork, fish or other traditional fare is of little consequence compared with the Aquavit which accompanies it. Distilled from potatoes, it is matured in oak barrels which are loaded onto a ship and must cross the equator before being considered kosher. It blows your head off at first, then becomes numbing and warming by turns. But you just have to keep going for fear of seeming a wuss.

Never heard of it.... but I'm far from averse to a B52 or three...

That reminds me of the great W C Fields: “I always keep some whiskey handy in case I see a snake...which I also keep handy.”

I have a modicum of Tanqueray, and Martell..... and a few snakes of my own.
