A slow day in the surgery, and a return to former glories on the Forum !

        Brilliant, Dr. F !

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Excellent, but I hope it's not too true to be funny.

I think I got away with a wry chuckle.

Actually, I'm looking forward to the successor to the Dr Who prom, the Brookside Prom, with historically informed hairstyles.

BBC Radio 3 would be very happy to hear of your suggestions
to ensure that the next season is as down-market as possible.

                Please post them here

How about The Archers prom? Or The Clitheroe Kid prom? The Mrs Dale's Diary prom? Or if it's TV you want - the Compact prom? (Maybe the last could be a 20-minute prelude to The Newcomers prom.) But there would have to be a Pobol y Cwm Prom, wouldn't there - to be politically correct?

Personally, I'll wait for the Round the Horne or ISIRTA - moother -proms.

Oh yes, a Round the Horne Prom would be brilliant. Imagine the duets by Julian and Sandy.

Segueing perhaps into a Late-Night set of Rambling Syd Rumpo numbers from R3 New Generation singers past and present

Suggested running order (inc guest bogle-fiddlin' from Nige wearing Vivienne Westwood faux-shopping-bag-tied-with-string footwear):

                      "Green Grow My Nadgers O!"
(to the tune of "Green Grow the Rushes, O")

                      "The Taddle Gropers' Dance"
(to the tune of "Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush")

                      "Clacton Bogle Picker's Lament"

                      "Gladys Is At It Again"

                      "My Grussett Lies a Fallowing-oh"

                      "Bind my Plooms with Silage"

                      "The Russet-Banger's Ditty"

                      "The Sussex Whirdling Song"
(to the tune of "Foggy, Foggy Dew")

                      "Pewter Woggler's Bangling Song"

                      "The Drunken Nurker"
(to the tune of "Drunken Sailor")

"...the isle is full of noises,

When I saw the OP, I thought it was serious, and wasn't at all surprised. It shows how far we have come.

I'm certain Nige's cordwangle will be up to the task. Would it be a good idea to invite the Bona Kammerchor and Vox Bona?

Of these mooted prospects, only the first and last could be justified on the grounds of their having currency, the rest having long since bitten the dust (apart from re-runs of some) - but what would go in a Pobol y Cwm Prom, apart from the possibility that it might be an excuse to present the music of those distinguished west Welsh composers William Mathias, Karl Jenkins, Gareth Walters and our own member Richard Barrett in a single programme? As to a The Archers Prom, I shudder to imagine what anyone would put into that (apart from the obvious irritating Pompously Circumstantial march that's served as its sig tune since time immemorial); I just hope that, if ever it became a reality, it wouldn't drag on interminably for 63 years...
