A crackin' video for the wonderful 'Blackbird' by Martyn Bennett has appeared in the last couple of days. Don't try this at home!

yes, well, I'm not sure he'd get his cycling proficiency badge down here JC - he didn't even stick his hand out to indicate a couple of times.
Clearly been listening to this too much

Certainly true Global but I reckon he wouldn't do a header off his bike at the first sign of cobbles.

Ah them heady days of summer when life was frothy Tetley's Bitter, puffy Yorkshire Pud...and flat tyres!

Thanks Global - I love that. What a great voice Carl Wilson possessed. There can be few songs I have listened to more in all my years of listening to music. And in my opinion it even has a certain something without the voices.

While waiting for Max to start tomorrow evening I think I'll take in an hour of *Idris Elba doing Journey Africa on R2, the first of a three parter. I have no idea what we're expecting to hear but probably better than most of the rest of R2's output I'm willing to believe.
Actor & musician Idris Elba plays tracks from all over Africa from the last 60 years.

                        * Apparently he played Mr Mandella in 'Long Walk to Freedom'.

Wasn't too taken with Mr Elba's delivery but a great bunch of tunes he delivered, though he kept babbling over them in that irritating DJ type way. However among other top tunes I really enjoyed this fine bit Congolese soukous by Kass Kass.

Part 2 of Mr Elba's African Journey - can't complain about a programme that starts with Ali Farka Toure and then Fela and now Tony Allen - but IE's still blinkin' annoyin'!

For the third week running a very good playlist from Idris Elba - that's his stint up but I imagine they might try to get him back after these fine tunes.

...including this crucial song from King Sunny Ade which I hadn't heard in ages but was so important in getting me listening to music from elsewhere - still sounds great.

Soul Music on Radio 4 is often a good listen and this week was the perfect example as it celebrated the various sides of Violetta Parra's 'Gracias a la Vida'.

The Latin American anthem to life is explored through personal stories.
