Definitely worth watching these 4 gems from the late 70's either on iPlayer or on YouTube ( The Devils Music)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00l...pisodes/player
Featuring a very earnest Alexis Korner and some blues clips that are just wonderful.
...watch this technique, unique Bukka White

Apparently Jim Carter was in Downton, but he's also a Lonnie Donegan fan and I really enjoyed this programme on ITV last night about Lonnie. He managed to coerce the remaining Beatles, Jack White and Roger Daltrey to talk about his influence on them. Even more, Van Morrison had tons of good stuff to say about Lonnie's importance to the Man. I never knew his name was Tony Donegan. Anyway, sorry about the photo that awaits you!

Baba Maal was on 'Later' last night, so I thought I'd tune in...he was performing with Mumford & Son - didn't get the point of it. Sound was appalling to cap it off and BM's voice kept disappearing. Anyway Gregory Porter was worth watching - did a great 'Purple Rain'; as was a pretty exciting piece by some French outfit, 'Christine and the Queens'.
Am I just getting grouchier or does Holland just get more utterly irritating as the years go by...actually I suspect both!

I hope so to the first, we need more grouch with respect to Later and therefore definitely agree to the second.

If it's anything like the musical quality of their Hendrix Purple Haze travesty, count me out.

Or, to avoid the dreadful JH, just watch it on YouTube

Dreadfuller and dreadfuller, he becomes. Thanks Global, I didn't hear that one - they also played Baba O'Riley but I copped out after that. Rest of the guests were pretty dreadful.

On a different 'glance around the schedules', I see Cerys is interviewing Peggy Seeger on World Service this evening.

Back in February Radio Scotland's 'Travelling Folk' had the 'Songs of Separation' collective in the studio following their performance at Celtic Connections. They repeated the show last night and as well as including the live set and interviews, the programme also continued the theme of separation with a variety of songs and tunes which tell stories about it through emigration, war and love.
Bruce MacGregor presents a special session from folk collective Songs of Separation.

Thanks Global. That was most enjoyable once I got used to the voices, which didn't take long.

After a fascinating 30 mins on the lobster ....

this 30 minute programme on the Indian classical music marathon turned up on r4
                                http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b07j4kfy
Repeated on Sat. at 15.30 for those who don't do iPlayer, well worth a listen; as seems to be the way with good radio, over much too quickly. No spoilers from me, if you are in the slightest bit interested in this form of music I suspect you will like the programme.
