It's Tarantella Sunday. I heard this somewhere on BBC Radio 3 during the week, but can't recall where - anyway I shazzed it, so had a look for in on YT. Apparently it tells the tale of a conflict among the fish in the Bay of Naples. Fantastic performance.
Among the popular songs on the program of Alla Napoletana by Christina Pluhar and L’Arpeggiata is Lo Guarracino, a comical and tongue-twisting tarantella tha...

    Happy Random Global Music Sunday.

For me, one of the most irritating programmes on radio is Radio 4's 'Add to Playlist' with me, Cerys Matthews, and me, Jeffrey Boakye - . However, on Friday evening I resisted the urge to switch that dial when I detected the dulcets of Eliza Carthy guesting on there, and glad I did. Her part in the chain of songs was this one, collected by Alan Lomax in a bar in Genoa in the mid-fifties:
'La Partenza (The Parting)' by Trallaleri of Genoa.

Hard to believe its all guys singing. Enjoy a sunny Sunday.

We haven't had a spot of Scott Walker on a Sunday for a while - I heard the very moving 'Farmer in the City' on the radio yesterday, from his record 'Tilt'. Such a voice!
Walker's best song in high quality sound. not compressed like the other uploads on here!

I enjoy a slice every so often, Global, but I tend not to want a whole cake, if you catch my drift?
