Unusually, we differ! Personally, I've heard enough of Pappano's RVW. Unlike the majority of critics and listeners (admittedly) I find his over-detailed, self-consciously phrased and in-your-face readings of these two symphonies draw too much attention to the executants, and too little to the music. These flash-in-the-pan performances won't stand the test of time, in my personal opinion. Play his 6th before Handley's LPO reading, and maybe you'll hear what I mean.
