I also rather like baroque chamber music being played, and also Purcell Theatre Music, is also a good dinner music. There's also a recording that Chandos does, dedicated for dinners.

Not really. Pizzicato Polka, for preference; if plucking, then pheasant, you see...

Indeed; "music and words" - two great frequenters of dinner parties, so it is said...

Maybe even Inter-mezze and Arrabbiatabella as well - not to mention Salami, of course...

Do you want them to stay or go?

If you want them to stay, anything by Mr Ding Dong, Avo Part, or J Taverner the younger. Trouble is you won't get rid of them at all- they will be comatose within five mins.

If you don't want them to outstay their welcome, anything by Glass, Adams, Reich should do the trick. Probably wouldn't even stay for "afters".

Depends what the meal is. For example,if it's fish the Trout quintet maybe. Or for lamb, how about Where Sheep May Safely Graze. And if it's a pie and mash you could try the music from Sweeney Todd.

... plus there's that bit from the Messiah - "Oh we like sheep ..."

A few chips off the old Bloch would go down a treat.

Oh and what about some Magnardises? (Jayne LW will especially appreciate these, methinks!)...
