                      Ah yes, Carl Schuricht: a fine conductor, and sadly negected. I've got the Karajan recording of Bruckner 8, of course, on Deutsche Grammophon (427 611-2GHZ if you are interested) but while I was working in a CD shop, a little old man came in and we got talking (as you do) about the wonderful Anton (blessed be his name), and he mentioned that he had seen Schuricht conduct in Berlin in the 1950s. Next thing, he came back with a bootleg recording of a live recording by the master himself. Herbert is good, but Carl rocks IMHO...

                          I have the Karajan as well but I will look at the Schuricht!

                                Not only beautiful, but with the 5th Symphony a work of quite outstanding craftsmanship. Which is why I consider RVW one of the greatest of all symphonists.
