That's the fella! I think this is the first time I've given any thought to Heinrich von Kleist since I studied 19th century German drama at university. I believe another Kleist work, Die Marquise von O, was made into a film. Pentheselia got tangled up with Achiiles, in case anybody was wondering.
    Over to you for 'L'.

Doh! I was just about to send this in, and I'm an AA virgin! But was the Prince of Homburg a landgrave's son? Couldn'the first be Käthchen von Heilbronn (opera by Pfitzner), with a count as hero rather than a prince??

        okely-dokely...

Starting with the man with no name's big book, the Belgian gets to the heart of it, but we end up with a horse and Œdipus...

What the L am I talking about?

Thank you, Anna, but if I ever do get in first, I see I'll have to go through 16,000+ posts to see whether something's been done before. Might just go back to lurking and admiring all the wit and wisdom on offer ......

No, you can't. Now that you have lost your virginity you have to stay here and suffer AA like the rest of us. We don't do this for fun

Not at all, we don't bother about that. We're all so senile here that we can't remember what happened yesterday, let alone 10,000 posts ago. I can't even get the letters of the alphabet in the right order today...

I was about to say something similar to that, then thought better of it

Oh gosh, no name = anonymous. From Wiki:
AA's name derived from its first book, informally called "The Big Book", originally titled Alcoholics Anonymous: The Story of How More Than One Hundred Men Have Recovered From Alcoholism.
We need help recovering from our own AA!

Ludovicus Episcopius, a Dutch composer of the late Renaissance wrote "Vruecht en deucht mijn hert verhuecht (my heart enjoys in pleasure and virtue)"

Not a lot of people know that...
