Anna, you are a wonder! It is indeed Mr Souris.

So now for the cartoon. It's very old, and neither British nor American.

Well done, SCB. The Silly Little Mouse, music to an animated cartoon, for seven singers and small orchestra.

Is it against the rules to use a foreign translation like Souris? I fear it is, but I couldn't resist it, having found it. Monsieur Vindeplonk did the same so I claim immunity. Do we need a ruling?

That's true - though only for suitably addictive personalities I think. I suspect there are many who haven't got the bug. Though I gather rubbernecker is still in rehab. And what happened to Angle? He reappeared for a split second to solve a question, then off he b***ered

Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.

Who's Next? A choice of three: norfy, Anna or Subby.

He is well aware, thanks, Cloughie! It might just take the place the dreaded sudoku. Though since I started from the end of the thread I did think at first that I'd wandered into Mornington Crescent.

I had exactly that impression when reading the past afternoon/evening's entries this morning!

I have an 'N', but it can wait if Anna wants to set a question.

No, I think you should go ahead please, Norfy. Anna said yesterday that she wasn't coming out to play much at the moment.

                          A nice straightforward 'N' (honestly!)
Which 'N' links Andre Kostelanetz, Paul Paray and Nicholas Slonimsky?

Angle is alive and well and still living on the northern bank of the Mersey. Unfortunately, his comings and goings are frequent these days and so has little time to concentrate. Things should calm down shortly.

Best wishes to everyone and thanks, all, for an excellent board.

We seem to be in New England.

                                Is it New England?

Kostelanetz commissioned and premiered William Schuman’s New England Triptych.
Walter Piston's Three New England Sketches first performed by Paray.
Slonimsky conducted premiere of Charles Ives's Three Places in New England in 1931.

Edit: PIPPED again! (Throws toys out of pram.)
