indeed Friedrich Kuhlau - 1786-1832 - Lulu opus 65 and music for dramas Moses and William Shakespeare opus 74a
"immortalized in Danish cultural history through his music for Elves' Hill" says wiki. left more than 200 works despite his house, containing manuscripts, burning down

a poor puzzle which will be bettered shortly

Liadov wrote 'A Musical Snuffbox', one of Shura Cherkassky's faves I recall

Later: A story has it that Lyadov was slow to start composing the work which eventually became The Firebird (famously fulfilled by the then relatively inexperienced Igor Stravinsky) (wiki)

Cradle Song is one of Eight Russian Folksongs for orchestra, Op. 58 (1906)

Lyadov set 8 Russian folk songs, of which Cradle Song is the 6th. He also composed a Musical Snuff Box for piano and orchestra.

He also failed to complete a commission for Diaghalev, whereupon Stravinsky stepped in and wrote 'The Firebird'.

Cheers anton - hard luck, Norths! - a matter of timing only

What M links a career kept moving by a patent medicine, a harpsichord pioneer, and pianistic sparks

Are you certain it was Sargent, norths?

Our harpsichordist is from an earlier generation than Malcolm
