Yes indeed! Re. Presley: I guess I could have said 'excluding regional and specialist charts', as I was referring to the natiional Billboard (Sales in Shops) chart. I thought 'first No. 1' was too easy.

EDIT/UPDATE: 1795, 1956 and 1967 are the years in question.

Here's an extract from the vocal item:
              '....it's a clean machine'.

SCORE FLASH: Anna 1 mercia 1 - will they have to go into extra time or a shoot-out?

You clearly know the answer - have you selflessly passed the ball to Anna in front of an open goalmouth?

While we wait for the third penny to drop (ho!ho!), may I respectfully point out that 'Penny Lane' does not feature on 'Sergeant Pepper' - it was a 'double A-side' with 'Strawberry Fields Forever'.

Sorry, I'm out of the loop on the current questions... but Ofca, what days on Coronation St, eh?!?! All action... Kidnappings, toddlers nearly scrunched under cars, Kev actually scrunched under a car... Good stuff

Not so many good lines, perhaps - although when whatsisname, the blond male totty, had to go into the Rovers clad only in his tight boxers, I enjoyed the exchange with the barmaid: "Do I look like I've got any money on me??" - "I thought you might have some tucked away somewhere..."

But having finished the omnibus over breakfast, no sticky end for Fishwick Anna ... that story will one hopes be concluded next week
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                            Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Sorry, I have to bow out, got a bit of a domestic here in that we are having a severe gale and damage to fencing that needs attending to urgently before it gets worse and I haven't a clue about the third penny, so hand back to mercia

... and serious pedants will point out that the Beethoven work did not gain its sobriquet from the composer but from Anton Schindler, and that 'penny' is not mentioned, being "Die Wut über den verlorenen Groschen"...
